Did someone say yes to the question? Let us help you with your special wedding day invitations.

Always remember - pick your envelope out first - then decide on the size of your design.
The last thing you want is printed invitations with no envelope to fit them! We learned early on to lead people towards envelopes first, so there is not a panic six weeks before their big day that invitations may not mail on time.

LCI Paper has a great website for double envelopes.  We love this website because they will let you order samples, which allows you to see the color before ordering. This will also allow your graphic designer to color match and to test to make sure all the pieces fit in your envelope before you print them.

Save yourself from unnecessary stress when planning for your big day or helping to plan someone else’s! If you know of any other great wedding envelope resources, share them here. We would love to hear from you!

Reducing files

Reducing files can be an easy solution to saving money on a project...

Many times changing the trim size of your file can change your costs. For instance, to print on our large format printer is much more expensive than our color digital. The difference between the two machines is the size they are able to print. Read on for two examples:

Posters:

  • Our large format can print 60 inches wide by 100’s of feet (prints on a roll), where our color digital press prints up to 12x18. However, the cost savings to print on our color digital is significant. Next time you are designing or ordering a small poster keep that in mind. If you are planning a14x20 poster, but can live with a 12x18 instead, you will definitely save money.

Postcards:
  • Smaller postcards can sometimes save cost since we are able to print more pieces on one sheet. If you are thinking about an 8.5x5.5, changing to a 4x6 will change your cost. You will be surprised how your costs can be decreased just by reworking the size of your finished piece. This even saves on postage!

Let us help you determine the most cost effective size for your project during the conceptual stage and you may save money in the end!

Picture Perfect Photos

Making sure your photos stay picture perfect for print. A quick and easy rule of thumb for resolution and how to play it safe...
A lot of times people think that a photo that looks good on screen or on line will print just as clearly. That all depends on the resolution of the photo and the scale you are enlarging it to. A file will always be fine if you reduce it, it’s blowing it up that can get you in trouble. To help understand the restrictions and how much enlarging is too much here is my rule of thumb.

  • Never enlarge a file more than the resolution it is. So, if a file is 72 dpi - don’t enlarge it more than 72 percent. 250dpi - don’t go any bigger than 250 percent and so forth.
  • Always remember to be thinking about your end product. If you are building a file at half size, you have to do double the math to make sure your photos will stay in top notch quality.

Just remember, we are here to help! So, anytime you are in doubt send us the image in question. We can take a look at it and guide you through the process.

Mailing Blog #1: Difference in Postal Permits

Choosing the right type of mailing for your project can be tedious. There are four different ways to mail items through the post office:

First Class -  This is generally mailed either with a stamp or meter. There is no limit to how many pieces can be mailed, and should arrive in 1-4 days.

First Class Presort - This mailing is handled as regular first class by the post office, but the mailing addresses are sorted before being delivered to the post office.  Because the mail is sorted when it arrives at the post office, the postal rate is lower than regular first class.  A presort first class mailing must contain a minimum of 500 pieces.  This mails generally arrives in 1-4 days.

Presort Standard - This mailing is handled as second priority at the post office.  The mailing addresses are sorted before being delivered to the post office.  Because the mail is sorted when it arrives at the post office and it is handled as a second priority, the postage rate is reduced twice.  A presort standard mailing must contain a minimum of 200 pieces.  The post office has up to two weeks to deliver these items although most arrive much sooner than this.  However, it is not recommended for time sensitive items.  When nonprofits use this method, they can receive additional postage reduction by using a non-profit permit number.

Every Door Direct Mail - An extremely cost effective method for mailing to a concentrated area. You can choose who gets this mailer by address, neighborhood or zip code. Check out our Every Door Direct Mail blog post to learn more about this mailing capability!
